Your band, but it levels up

The hard part of a band isn't the music — it's getting a handful of busy people to keep showing up for it. Cobander makes the work count: every take, lyric, chord and practice minute earns XP, and everyone can see the band getting better.

Free — the whole app, every song, forever. Intel Mac? Intel Mac download.

Cobander in one minute.

Everything you do earns XP

Recording a take, writing a lyric, putting chords on the lane, leaving a note, finishing a to-do, practicing a song — all of it earns XP. It is counted from the song files in your shared folder, so it is the real work, not button mashing.

100 levels, and a band level too

Each person climbs from Fresh Noodle to Living Legend, with a new title and badge every ten levels. A band that records every week takes a year or two to reach the top. The band has its own level that rises as songs get structure, chords, words, takes from everyone and a final bounce.

Level up and the whole screen celebrates, fanfare included — and it stays quiet while anyone is recording.

Boss battles: your next show

Name the show, give it a date and pick the songs it needs. It counts down on the Band page and shows which songs are ready to fight and which still need work.

Achievements and goals

First take, night owl, on a roll, full band on one song — plus each song's goals and to-dos, so "is it done?" has an answer everyone can see. Practice minutes show up on the Band page, so "did anyone learn the bridge?" answers itself.

It still gets the songs written

Under the game it is a real songwriting and recording app: everyone records into the same song from their own computer through the folder your band already shares, with lyrics, chords, structure and notes on one timeline.

Questions

Does the game get in the way?

No. Nothing waits on an animation, and level-ups never interrupt a recording. Turn the fanfare off in settings if you want it quiet.

Can someone cheat their XP?

XP comes from the work saved in the song files, so the way to level up is to actually do the work.

Is it free?

Yes. Every feature, every song. $10 once for your own name on the board, or $60 once for the whole band.
