What you're buying
Cobander is free. Sending noods buys a key that lifts the free version's one-song-per-band limit. The key:
- is for one band — everyone who shares that band's folder. It isn't per person or per computer.
- is yours for good. It doesn't expire, doesn't phone home, and keeps working if Cobander stops being developed.
- arrives by email, usually within a minute of paying. Lost it? Reply to that email, or write to the address below, and it gets re-sent.
- can be revoked if it's posted publicly or resold. Sharing it with your own band is the whole point; sharing it with the internet isn't.
Roadie ($60 and up) is the same key plus your band's name on the Roadies wall, here and inside the app, once we've confirmed how you'd like it to read. We can decline names that are offensive or that aren't yours.
Refunds
Pay-what-you-want means you set the price before you pay, so there's no price to dispute. If the key doesn't work and we can't fix it within a few days of you telling us, you get your money back in full. Change-of-mind refunds within 14 days are fine too as long as the key hasn't been used — just ask. Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy or Ko-fi; their receipts and their refund mechanics apply.
Updates and support
Updates are free and arrive inside the app. There's no promise of specific future features or of updates forever — but the app you have, and your key, keep working regardless. Support is by email, best effort, from a very small team.
Privacy
- The app sends nothing anywhere. No accounts, no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reports. Your songs, takes and lyrics live in the folder your band already shares (Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud Drive or Dropbox) and on your computers. We never see them.
- The app makes two kinds of network requests, both read-only: checking for updates (GitHub, or your band's own folder) and fetching the Roadies list from this site. Neither sends anything about you.
- Speech-to-text, chord detection, key detection and pitch check all run on your computer.
- When you buy a key, the payment processor gives us your name, email and the amount. We use the email to send the key and to answer you if you write. We don't sell it, share it or send newsletters. Roadie band names go on the wall only with your say-so.
- This website is static and has no cookies, trackers or analytics.
Source code and warranty
Cobander's source is open under the MIT License, which is also its warranty: the software is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. Back up your band folder — the cloud service you already use does this for you, but it's your call.
